Preamble:
Leaders in Churches and overwhelming numbers of Christians / Believers have the notion of doing some things that does not benefits the body of Christ with the thought of getting away with it and without being held accountable in this life in this physical world.
Question:
What does the Bible says on the importance of accountability?
Bible passages:
Proverbs 27:17, Ephesians 6:12, Ephesians 6:13,) Matthew 16:27, Romans 2:16
Discussion:
What is accountability?
Accountability is being responsible or answerable to a act.
The Bible says everyone will give account of what they have done whether good or bad Ecclesiastes 12:14. The people of the world do not believe on accountability nor do they believe that they will be judged. The Bible tells us that the day is coming in which God will judge everyone Romans 2:16.
Key points:
Everyone will be rewarded whether good or bad Romans 2:16
Individual are answerable to every responsibility or position that God has given - parable of the talents Matthew 25:14-30.
Some examples of careless attitudes to accountability:
Deceit - false prophesy;
Charging people for prayer / fasting;
Using word of God creatively in such a way that it loses the biblical meaning;
Being carried away with power / fame.
How to change focus to Jesus:
Speak the truth to people through undiluted word of God;
Praying for the body of Christ;
Preaching the word - faith comes by hearing …. Romans 10:17;
Individual behavior should portray a good character;
Be your brothers keeper.
Praise God
