Is it okay for a Christian to trade his / her Christian value with ungodly compromacy inorder to achieve their goal both in career and community ambition?
As Christians we want to achieve and sustain the Christian value in the community. Is it okay for a Christian to trade his / her Christian value with ungodly compromacy inorder to achieve their goal both in career and community ambition?
Bible passages:
Psalm 18:12, Romans 12:8, Romans 12:2, Ephesians 5:6, 2Samuel 6:6-7, Numbers 4:5, 2Corinthian 5:17, 2Corinthians 6:14.
Discussion:
Believing in God and following Him are different things. It is not okay or biblical acceptable to try and help God by trading one’s Christian value. Abraham tried to help God by accepting Hagar - Sarah’s maid as his second wife Genesis 16:1-16. The promises of God for Abraham was fulfilled through his son Isaac, which means Abraham effort in helping God does not work.
Matthew 7:21-23 tells us that all our actions has to be according to the standard of God…
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter”.
Romans 12:8 Paul warned Christians not to be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed ……
The information gathered from the bible showed that God is clear about His rules and commandments; His teaching are straight forward and He said in His word that He is a jealous God. He does not want His children to conform to the standards of this world for anything.
Ephesians 5:6 tells us to follow God’s example ….
Other examples of people that tried to help God:
2Samuel 6:6-7 Uzzah reached out to stop the ark of God from falling;
he died immediately
1Samuel 15:9-21 Saul kept the best cattles in Amelekites to make sacrifices unto God. God transferred the throne to David.
Whatever we do or planning to do for Christ we must be compassionate for Christ. 2Corintians 5:17 …. “
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
In addition we should not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever 2Corinthians 6:14. Jesus does not allow double standards in any setting.
Some ways in which Christian could set other standards:
- Church entertainment: inviting comedians into Church;
- Trial marriage with no intention of getting married;
- Using ungodly means to finance the Church;
- Prosperity preaching: focusing only on how to be rich financially;
- Setting certain social class in the Church: this could also reflect into sitting arrangement in Church;
- Wrong application of the word of God to justify wrongdoing.
In conclusion, the harvest is plenty but the labourers are few; Luke 10:2 …..
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers
into his harvest field.”
May God help us not to compromise our faith or spiritual standards in any situation🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
