How do you evaluate sermons and teachings after listening to the preachers or teachers of the word?

Bible passages:
Acts 16:16-18, 1John 4:1-6, John 14:26, John 15:26, 2Timothy 2:15,
Acts 17:10-12.

Discussion:
There are some steps to be taken for one to evaluate the word spoken by the preacher or teacher:

- Ask the Holy Spirit to interpret the word that you’re about to hear,
- Be attentive when listening to the word,
- Write down the message -
The Word of God is spirit and life (John 6:63),
- Ask question for clarity if the platform is appropriate,
- Find time to go over the word of God, and
- Study the word of God regularly.
Acts 17:10-12 ….the Jews in Berea studied the word everyday to find out if the words they heard were true…
How to evaluate sermons and teaching:

* Holy Spirit will validate the word or message that one is listening to,
* If the word is not according to the gospel, the Holy Spirit will discern and a Spirit filled Christian will easily know,
1John 4:1-6 tells us that … do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

* In a situation where the word of God has been interpreted wrongly to the body of Christ, the Holy Spirit- the Spirit of Truth is available to alert when things are not right.
John 15:26 describes the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of truth …
“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father - the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.”

In conclusion:
2Timothy 2:15 employ us to be diligent in the word- work hard to ensure that we are feeding on the true word of God.
2Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Praise God
